T-Flip – User Interface

In my third semester I took a class about Human-Centered Design and Interactive Systems. In that subject we created a user interface proposal for T-Flip.

T-Flip is a collaborative project by University of Agder, University of Stavanger, Noroff University College, and Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences. It aims to use modern development tools and concepts, to help students hand-in and get automatic feedback on assignments. (Home page, in Norwegian: http://tflip.uia.no/)

In my third semester I took a class about Human-Centered Design and Interactive Systems. In that subject, me and Torry Tufteland (http://www.tumbili.no) created a proposal to a user interface for the T-Flip project.

Our scope was to create a feedback interface. The T-Flip team expressed that they wanted the students to not only deliver an assignment, pass it and move on. But to work further with it and create nice and functional code. We therefore wanted to make sure that the system not only was easy and understandable, but also fun to use. It also needed to give the students the opportunity to improve there work over time. We therefore applied some gamification techniques such as achievements and a scoring system to the interface. The feedback the student gets contains tips for good coding practice that you get points for. In addition to inform the students what is needed for the assignment to be passed.

The T-Flip team liked our proposal. They have now taken over the code and are working to implementing it and will use it in programming courses at the university.

Our proposal is available at http://tflip.tumbili.no/. This version is not connected to the T-Flip data. So all the text is static dummy data. It is made using HTML, Javascript and CSS with extensions like Bootstrap and Chart.js
